Rich, creamy egg nog appears only during holiday season, so luxurious that the thick, rum-laced beverage needs a season of indulgence to justify their intake. True to their name, egg nogs are made of eggs, and raw ones at that. We knew that there were safer options, and not wanting to go without partaking of the holiday spirit, we made up egg-free egg nog recipes. Not one, but three!

7 Delicious Ways to Have Egg-free Egg Nog:

  1. Egg Nog Oatmeal- Replace all or half of water you use to cook your oatmeal with egg nog. Creamy egg nog elevates your average morning oatmeal to new heights.
  2. Egg Nog Latte- Add warmed egg nog to your coffee for a cozy egg nog latte. Heat ½ cup of egg nog in a microwave-safe large mug for 1 minute. Alternatively, heat ½ cup a saucepan over low-medium heat for 2 minutes, bringing just to a simmer. Pour into a mug of ½ cup robust coffee.
  3. Egg Nog Milk Shake- Add ½ cup chilled egg nog and ½ cup vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt to a blender and blend until creamy. The longer you blend, the creamier the shake. Pour into a tall glass and add whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg. Serve with a thick straw or long spoon.
  4. Egg Nog Affogato- Scoop your favorite ice cream flavor- butter pecan, pumpkin, vanilla, chocolate, or coffee ice cream, into a single bowl. Chill in the freezer. Heat up ½ cup egg nog with 1 teaspoon espresso powder in the microwave or in a sauce pan over the stove. Pour over cold ice cream bowl.
  5. Egg Nog Pancakes- Prepare your favorite pancake batter and use egg nog instead of milk.
  6. Egg Nog Fettuccine Alfredo- Make a cheesy sauce with egg nog and add to fettucine for luxurious fettuccine alfredo. Add egg nog to a small sauce pan and bring to medium-heat. Add 2 tablespoons cream cheese and 1 tablespoon grated parmesan. Whisk until smooth. Lower heat and let thicken 2-3 minutes. Meanwhile, cook ¼ cup dried fettucine noodles according to package instructions. Drain, reserving ½ cup pasta water. Add egg nog cheese sauce to pasta, stirring until evenly coating noodles. Tip into a large bowl. Grate additional parmesan and nutmeg over pasta. Finish with chopped parsley.
  7. Egg Nog Shrimp Bisque- Add egg nog to a sauce pan. Heat over medium-heat. Add 5-7 medium-sized frozen shrimp and heat until cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. Pour into soup bowl. Add finely diced chives or scallions.

Curl up on a cozy couch and settle in for a nurturing night of reading, netflicking, or even coloring.
